A Sequoia Carbon tonne is a unit of CO2 stored in The Great Reserve forests, sequestered by our Giant Sequoia trees.
Our woodlands and carbon are externally audited and verified by the Soil Association in accordance with the FSC® Ecosystem Services Procedure.
The Sequoia Carbon Code
It’s a science backed framework for forecasting the capture of carbon by Giant Sequoia trees in the UK. The SCC is a voluntary code, specifying the commitments we make to ensure effective carbon sequester rates and the maintenance and protection of our Giant Sequoia trees in the UK.
Sequoia Carbon
Trees take time to grow. Our ‘Sequoia Carbon Pending Units’ (SCPUs) are carbon tonnes that will be grown over time. We use LIDAR drone scans to report on the increasing carbon volume in our Sequoias, and the ‘Pending Units’ gradually convert to ‘Verified Units’ (SCVUs). Over the maturity period (85 or 150 years), all carbon purchased converts to Verified Units.
